Lose the Freshman 15: Jump Start Diet Fitness

Aside from the healthy food choices and meals, SELF magazine’s Jump Start Diet includes fitness as well. But don’t fret, loves—with only five cardio sessions per week (hello workout-free weekends), you will be well on your way toward healthy, happy weight loss.
 
The various workout routine options include: the elliptical and stair stepper, the treadmill, the indoor bike and jump rope, or the 30-minute cardio-sizzler. Choose three (or four) of the previously mentioned workout routines, repeat your favorite(s) for the remaining days, and hit up the gym or your student recreational center for just 45 minutes a day.
 
Jillian Michaels recommends pre-cardio stretches before each workout, which I highly suggest as well! Unfortunately, I decided to opt out of that today and boy-oh-boy am I regretting that now! If my thighs had emotions, they would certainly be furious with me…

My Weekly Workout Routine Plan:

Monday: The Elliptical

Minutes Incline Resistance

10 15 7
10 15 7

Repeat and continue for 20 minutes

Tuesday: Walking & Jogging on the Treadmill

Minutes Incline Speed
5 3.5 3.5
2 2 5
5 5 3.7
2 2 5.2

Continue to increase incline and speed, followed by a decrease–to give those glutes a slight break from all that burn–for another 30 minutes.

Wednesday: Indoor Bike

Minutes Resistance Speed

5 7 10
5 10 7
5 3 20
5 10 7

Repeat and continue for 20 minutes

Thursday: Walking & Jogging on the Treadmill

Friday: The Elliptical
