Lose the Freshman 15: A Breakfast Fit for a Princess

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

Allo collegiettes™!

I have a huge problem: my royal wedding invitation was lost in the mail. Yours too? Well, what’s a girl to do? Well, other than waking up in the wee hours of the morning to watch “the wedding of the century” on the telly, you host a very royal affair in the convenience of your own home! 579794ab

But since I’ve lost the freshman 15 weight, and am trying to continue my healthy lifestyle, with a few exceptions here and there to keep those unwanted pounds away, how can I throw a Queen-approved wedding bash and still keep it healthy?

With a full English breakfast, of course! Sometimes referred to as a “Full Monty,” this hardy meal consists of several courses that are presented in many variations like toast and marmalade, tea and milk, cereal and a main course.

I mean, when the Brits say full they mean it! I read there’s a saying in the U.K. that goes: Breakfast like a King, lunch like a Queen and have supper like a pauper.” 95351808

If you too want to channel your inner-Princess fancy yummy, low-calories recipes, here are a few suggestions from SELF that will satisfy you and your roommates’ craving for British fare with an altered version of the traditional full English breakfast:

  • Egg and Cheese: Cook 1 egg to your liking in a pan coated with cooking spray. Place egg, 1 slice cheddar on a toasted whole-grain English muffin. Serve with ½ apple.
  • A Spot o’ Tea: Normally a green tea drinker? Swap it in for some white tea because according to SELF, “white tea has more EGCG, an antioxidant that may rev metabolism. That’s because white tea is picked before it’s fully grown. (Plants lose antioxidants via photosynthesis.)”
  • Apple Tea Cakes: Only 51 calories per cake, this delish recipe can use either fruits or chocolate chips!

Remember, it’s never too late to start a diet! If you’d like to join me in my healthy, happy weight loss (and please do), go register for the Jump Start Diet on SELF.com and be sure to use the SELF logs to keep track of your daily workout and meals, which is an awesome way to keep track of your calorie intake and how much you’re burning off!
