At the NBA All-Star game on February 18, Fergie performed the National Anthem in a way that I’ll just call “unique.” Her attempt to change up the tune came across as awkward and even sort of sexual.

Fergie responded to the criticism on Tuesday in a statement to E! News.
“I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem, and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA,” Fergie said. “I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”
Her heartfelt apology makes it seem kind of mean how much she has been mocked from the performance. It seems like she really tried and just wasn’t successful in impressing her audience. Fergie might not have brought it home with her performance this time, but she is still an astounding artist who is sure to come back from this!
