Tyra Banks Reaches Out to Young Women With New Book

Tyra Banks is back, but not as a supermodel or judge extraordinaire on ANTM. Instead, she’s promoting her new book “Modelland”, a first in a three-part series for young adults.

“Modelland” chronicles the life of Tookie De La Crème, an self-conscious teenager who receives an invitation to a selective academy dubbed Modelland.

While “Modelland” may be a work of fiction, some of Tookie’s experiences are steeped in the author’s real-life experiences navigating the world of modeling.  The book addresses topics that Banks has previously brought to light on her talk show, such as cutting and eating disorders.

“It’s inspired by my life and my experiences in fashion and modeling,” Banks said. “My successes as well as a lot of pain I had to go through.”
