Support Breast Cancer Awareness With These Foods!

As HC readers, you know how important it is to get involved in the fight against breast cancer! But for those of us who don’t always have the time to be totally dedicated this month, stick to the little things, like wearing pink and buying foods from companies who support breast cancer awareness. Check out our list of HC Approved foods that support being pink this October!

1. Odwalla: Pink Poetry Superfood smoothie

Odwalla, the company who makes delicious, healthy snacks like the Berries Go Mega bar, has created the Pink Poetry Superfood drink, to help support breast cancer awareness. The smoothie is free of all artificial elements and is a blend of dark fruits like cherries, plums and cranberries, and incorporates nutrients such as iron, calcium, and Vitamins C & E, all of which are lacking in many women’s diets.

Odwalla recently conducted a fundraiser through Facebook this past month, where people were asked to install the “Breast Buddies” application and Odwalla would then donate $1 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Because of the support they received, the company is going to donate $25,000 for the second year in a row, something every woman and HC reader can appreciate!

2. Dannon: Cups of Hope

Dannon, the company who makes the yogurt we love such as Light & Fit and Activia has put a pink ribbon label on their yogurt products and is striving to donate $1.5 million (minimum of $500,000) to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. If you head to their Facebook page, you will find coupons and more details on how you can help support the cure through Dannon. Every time you “like” Dannon on Facebook, the company will donate 10 cents to the NBCF, and the same goes for any codes entered online from yogurt lids at CupsofHope.com. Now the yogurt that keeps us healthy can help all women fight toward the goal of ending breast cancer!

3. M&M’s: Candy for the cure

The company who brings you your favorite movie/anytime candies is also helping to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure! M&M’s sell a special package of pink M&M’s from August until November to represent their support to the Susan G Komen foundation, and since partnering with them in 2007, M&M’s has raised a considerable amount for the foundation and continues its promise each year. This year, Mars Snackfood US will donate $850,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, so buy a bag and treat yourself and all women out there fighting to find a cure!

4. Mike’s Hard Lemonade: Pink hard lemonade

The Spirits company began their contribution to finding a cure in 2007 when a member of their own team died after a long bout with breast cancer. Since then the company has donated $500,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and this year they are donating another $250,000 as well. The company does not base its contribution off of sales either, they simply want to help find a cure while simultaneously raising awareness through their delicious pink drink. So if you are having a party this October (think Halloween), don’t forget the pink Mike’s ladies!

5. Panera Bread: Pink Ribbon Bagel

Starting October 1st, Panera Bread is taking orders for their Pink Ribbon Bagel, which is a delicious ribbon-shaped bagel baked with cherry chips, dried cherries, cranberries, and made with vanilla, honey and brown sugar!
What makes this bagel that much sweeter is the fact that Panera is donating 25 cents for every bagel sold! You can download the order form here and use the bagels for a breast cancer event, as gifts for friends or even for yourself!

In the end, every bit helps so whether you are joining a walk for the cure or buying some snacks, anyone can help support breast cancer research this month!
