The ‘Sex and the City’ Drama Continues As Kim Cattrall Slams Sarah Jessica Parker In Instagram Post: ‘You Are Not My Friend’

News broke last week that Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall’s brother, Chris, had been found dead after being reported missing in Canada. Cattrall took to Instagram to thank both her fans and her Sex and the City colleagues for their support.

However, things took a turn this past weekend, when Cattrall posted another Instagram — this time, with a much different tone. Cattrall’s photo read, “I don’t need your love or support at this time @sarahjessicaparker.”

The caption on the photo, posted February 10th, began: “My Mom asked me today ‘When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?’ Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now.”

It continued, “Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.”

Cattrall ended the post with a link to an article by the New York Post addressing the “mean girls culture” within the Sex and the City cast.

Though there’s no clear indication to what Cattrall is specifically referring to, Parker had recently spoken about Cattrall’s brother in interviews with Entertainment Tonight and Extra.

“If somebody in your life, whether you’re in touch with them or not, [is] suffering for any reason, it’s involuntary that you want to convey condolences or sadness or just let someone know you’re thinking about them,” Parker told Entertainment Tonight on February 8.

Speaking to Extra, Parker said, “I can’t begin to know how her family is managing such a loss. We all send her our love and condolences and grant her the privacy that she’s asked for.”

Parker also commented on the Instagram photo of Cattrall that initially announced the death of her brother. “Dearest Kim, my love and condolences to you and yours and Godspeed to your beloved brother. Xx,” Parker said.

Rumors have been brewing for years that Kim Cattrall (Smantha Jones) and Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw) had a rocky relationship behind the scenes of Sex and the City. Supposedly, the tension between the two increased following the second-season departure of original series creator Darren Starr, who turned it over to Parker’s ally, Michael Patrick King.

When the series ended, it reportedly took big money to convince Cattrall to make the two SATC movies, and even a big check couldn’t persuade her to do a third one — though a script had already been written and her co-stars had signed on.

“I’m disappointed,” Parker said when the project finally died last fall. “We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.”

Then, DailyMailTV reported that Cattrall had made an ultimatum to Warner Bros. Pictures to produce films she was developing.

Cattrall fired back, saying in an interview with Piers Morgan that she was insulted by the negative press — and Parker.

“This is really where I take to task the people from Sex and the City, specifically Sarah Jessica Parker, is that I think she could’ve been nicer. I really think she could have been nicer,” Cattrall said.

She also shut down the insinuations from the DailyMailTV article. “The answer [to the movie] was always no. I never asked for any money, I never asked for any projects. To be thought of as some kind of diva is ridiculous,” Cattrall said.

Cattrall also didn’t hold back when it came to talking about her relations with the SATC cast in the interview. “We’ve never been friends. We’ve been colleagues and in some ways it’s a very healthy place to be because then you have a clear line between your professional life and relationship and your personal,” she said.

Meanwhile, since Cattrall posted the photo on Saturday, Parker has yet to comment on the situation.
