Selena Gomez Has Officially Ended Things With Justin Bieber & It Is Definitely About Time

Eyes have been on Selena Gomez’s relationship with Justin Bieber since it began in 2009, when Selena was only 17. (Let’s be honest: If we all ended up with the guy we were dating at 17, the world would be an absolute mess.)

After Selena and The Weeknd ended things in 2017, after nearly a year of dating, Jelena attempted to rekindle their old flame. They’ve seen been on their on-again off-again rollercoaster, but this week it was revealed that Selena has finally officially broken things off with the Biebs.

A source told Us Weekly that Sel is “thrilled” about it. “Selena started seeing the bigger picture when it came to their relationship… She feels more empowered than ever and is looking forward to this next chapter.” While the teen magazine junkie in me is kind of sad about the ending of the last teen celebrity couple of the bygone late 2000s, the more mature version just wants what’s best for my girl. Here’s hoping she remains happy. (Oh yeah, and Justin too, yadda yadda.)

News of Jelena’s end comes alongside the release of Selena’s new song, “Back to You,” from the 13 Reasons Why Season 2 soundtrack. The lyrics appear to have been written around the time she was looking to get back together with Justin. “You’re stuck in my head and I can’t get you out of it/ If I could do it all again/ I know I’d go back to you.”
