Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey Feuding on ‘Idol’

Well, that didn’t take long. In a video taken yesterday morning at an American Idol audition in North Carolina, it seems that Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey are already at each other’s throats. Although the audio quality in the video from TMZ is poor, the animosity between the two judges is palpable. TMZ posted a transcript of the fight, and reports that Nicki told the room of spectators that she would not be “putting up with [Carey’s] f**king highness.” Mariah seemed exasperated, and kept commenting on the fact that talking to Nicki was like dealing with “a three year old.” Yikes!

Although reports surfaced early of tensions between the two judges according to earlier reports from TMZ, it seemed that they were going to be able to get along after calling a ‘truce.’ But Nicki doesn’t seem to be holding up her end. She reportedly threatened to “knock [Carey] out” before the film started rolling, according to The Huffington Post.

Hopefully the feuding doesn’t escalate that far, though. “Physical threats are taken seriously and [show producers and Fox execs] are still deciding how to handle. It’s not an easy call,” a source from Idol told E! Online. TMZ reported that the show’s producers are taking the high emotions seriously, and ended auditions for the day after the fighting began to give both Nicki and Mariah some space to cool down.

At the very least, this season of Idol promises to be interesting, but does anyone else miss the old days of innocent bickering between Paula and Simon?!
