Nancy Pelosi isn’t taking sh*t from anyone this week and she’s calling out Trump’s chief of staff for their lack of diversity as they negotiate a deal on the DACA program. CNN reports she said, “The five white guys, I call them.”
The “five white guys” being White House chief of staff John Kelly, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, and Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin.
According to Townhall, in regards to the negotiations on DACA, Pelosi stated “That could have been done months ago. The very idea that this week they’re saying, ‘oh, let’s get four white guys and Gen. Kelly to come and do this…You have to understand, in our caucus we are blessed with great diversity.”
Hoyer, who respectably has gone head to head with Trump on DACA and is fighting for it, found this to be particularly offensive saying, “The comment is offensive. I am committed to ensuring DREAMers are protected and I will welcome everyone to the table who wants to get this done.”
Drew Brandewie, Cornyn’s spokesman gave a statement as well: “What a bizarre and disappointing attack on one of her own colleagues. Sen. Cornyn looks forward to working with Whip Hoyer to find a bipartisan solution.”
Can we LOL for a moment? The white men are offended and feel attacked? By a little comment that’s just true? How about the people in the DACA program, fighting for the lives they’ve built here. LOL, try to put away some of that white ignorance and white privilege, boys.
