“Bald Chick” Name Battle, Teen Cancer Victims New Clothing Line

As the family of Talia Joy Castellano continued working on her clothing line, they encountered complications acquiring the rights to the “That Bald Chick” name due to disagreements with the current owner.

Hearts mourned the loss of the internet sensation on July 16 after her 7-year battle with cancer. The 13-year old rose to fame after her series of YouTube makeup tutorials went viral and she was named an honorary CoverGirl on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last year. After partnering with 3d PR and Marketing and clothing designer Urbana Chappa, Castellano began working on a clothing line.

After her passing, Talia’s sister, Mattia, uploaded a video on Talia’s YouTube channel, informing her fans that the Castellano family would continue working on establishing her clothing line, named “That Bald Chick.”

Controversy arose when the family tried securing rights to the “That Bald Chick” name. ThatBaldChick.com is currently owned by small business owner, Virginia Higgins. Although 3d PR and Urbana Chappa have been working tirelessly to acquire rights to the name, but Higgins has made it clear that she will not relinquish the “Bald Chick” name.

The current owner stated via Facebook that she will not hand over her company without payment:

“For the record, I will not be “giving” MY website, thatbaldchick.com, or my username of @thatbaldchick on FB, Twitter, or Instagram to anyone. They’ve been mine since 2010 and will remain mine unless/until I receive a large lump sum for them.”

Along with trying to get Talia’s clothing line into stores like Target, 3D PR had to deal with changing the name of the collection and raising awareness for the new moniker.

“The new collection is ‘Bald Chick Collection,” said Dina Rezvanipour, CEO of 3d Public Relations & Marketing. Directing Talia’s followers from “That Bald Chick” to the new “Bald Chick Collection” has taken hard work but the new Facebook page currently has 15,047 likes and is being talked about by hundreds more.

The family and partners of Bald Chick Collection have made definite progress in promoting and readying the line. “We are going to have it up and ready to sell online within the next week,” Rezvanipour noted. “Talia’s sister, Mattia, will be coming up to L.A. tomorrow to help with the photo shoot, so we’re looking to have everything up by the end of new week.”

Talia’s family continues to tweet inspirational messages and pictures from her twitter account. The “Angels for Talia” Facebook page is updated with information about the Bald Chick Collection and her tribute.
