After her albums Thank You, Treat Myself, and The Love Train, her newest drop Takin’ It Back put her back on the map. The single “Made You Look” has had success online (hi, everyone over on TikTok!) and on the charts. But aside from her music, she’s got one more thing that’s been going viral lately: her friendship timeline with TikToker Chris Olsen.
Everyone was like “what’s the deal?” when they spotted her with Olsen at the American Music Awards in November 2022. It seemed like their friendship came out of nowhere for a lot of fans. But there they were, dropping jaws together on the red carpet.

March 2022: The Podcast
It all started on Meghan and Ryan Trainors’ podcast, Workin’ On It. They brought Olsen (@chris on TikTok) on to talk about finding happiness within yourself after you get out of a long-term relationship. For anyone who somehow didn’t have Ian Paget and Olsen on their FYP last winter (the couple made tons of TikTok and YouTube content focused on their two-year relationship), just know that their breakup rocked the fans’ world.
Anyway, Meghan and Olsen hit it off. From there, they became totally inseparable and started working on their devious plan to trick the internet.
April 2022: The Prank
Leading up to the release of their podcast episode featuring Olsen, him and Meghan decided to have a little fun. A few hours on Photoshop and some baby pics led to the creation of fake photos of them playing together as kids. Fun fact: Meghan and Olsen share a birthday, and that made a lot of people think they were fraternal twins. This stunt was them leaning into that misconception.
Crazy enough, it worked. They had people googling, “Meghan Trainor and Chris Olsen related?” for a solid week. They finally came clean to their TikTok fans, who already suspected they were just messing around.
July 2022: The Prank… Again
Round two. This time, their fans were in on it. What started out as the pair trying to fool everyone became a fun group effort to convince the general population that Meghan and Olsen were absolutely related. People started cranking out fake baby pictures of them a mile a minute. And they loved it!
October 2022: The “Made You Look” Cameo
Obvi, we know Meghan and Olsen spent all summer making TikToks together and dancing for the fans. But, you might’ve missed their big finale after all the promo they did for Meghan’s single, “Made You Look.”
After countless dances and memes, red carpet events, and social media stunts, we got the music video for “Made You Look.” And for loyal viewers who watched until the end (or just skipped to 2:18), there was an Olsen cameo and TikTok joke waiting for them.
November 2022: The AMAs Lovefest
The first red carpet event the pair attended together in 2022 was the American Music Awards. Ah, memories. Meghan outshone the other celebs with her Barbie-pink sequined suit and Olsen stood next to her clad in a black, glittering tux to match. They spoke with interviewers about their friendship and the fun they had together behind the scenes making “Made You Look.”
December 2022: The Birthday Besties
Remember when I said Meghan and Olsen shared the same b-day? Well, Joshua Bassett shares it, too! And the duo became a trio. Sporting baby pink hoodies with their infamous, photoshopped photos, Meghan, Olsen, and Bassett cheesed for the camera. My favorite Capricorns, hands down.
