Lose the Freshman 15: The Gift of Great Supporters!

Hola Collegiettes ™!

In the midst of consuming my entire day studying the art of focus groups for my Public Relations midterm today (dry, I know), I had a successful day following the Jump Start Diet!

Sorry for the extremely late post. I just finished a workout with one of my friends and realized the perfect topic to blog about today. Within 24 hours of posting my first article for Her Campus and SELF Magazine’s Freshman 15, I’ve inspired so many of my friends, without even knowing. It’s so important to surround yourself with positive people.
Having those helping hands throughout the journey can make a huge difference when trying to get over struggles and plateaus. Find friends whose goals are similar to yours and will help push you when you get discouraged. After all, that’s what friends are for! The picture at right shows my supportive crew. I’m so glad I’ve met them all.

Now let’s get to the good stuff—my second day on the diet. I just got back from the gym where I did a mix of Jillian Michaels treadmill workout and elliptical workout. I only had 45 minutes to do a total workout before the gym closed, and I’m positive I made the best of it. After doing cardio, I did some leg and ab workouts (Yay to toning and tightening).

Here comes the problem: I know eating breakfast is going to be a challenge for me. I’ve mastered the “roll out of bed and get dressed ten minutes before class” routine every morning and I leave no time for eating breakfast. Usually my first meal is at noon or later, once my streak of classes is over. I attempted to wake up at 6:45 (8am class, ugh) to leave enough time to hit snooze a dozen times and eat a healthy breakfast. Unfortunately, I was running on only 3 hours of sleep due to studying for my midterms, so I hit snooze about 3 dozen times and had no time to make a healthy meal. So I quickly grabbed a banana and my water bottle as I power walked to class. However, I’m going to work on this, I promise. Even if I have to pre-fix my breakfast meals to ensure that, I get something in my system before classes, I will do it.

Outside of the breakfast flaw, I had a wonderful eating day on the diet. For lunch, I remixed the Chicken Baked Potato recipe and swapped the grilled chicken for roasted turkey. It was rather tasty, I must say. I was a little worried about the dry potato, but it was delicious. For snack, I ate 1 cup of grapes and 1 string cheese. For dinner, I grilled a small chicken breast and put it on a whole grain English muffin with 1 cup of grapes. I need to go produce shopping to include more veggies into my diet. I’ll be sure to get on that once this hell week of tests, projects, and papers is over.

But overall, I am happy with my day. How’d you do? Let me know what you do to ensure you eat breakfast in the morning. I’d love to get some advice. Leave a comment below, shoot me an e-mail (andrea.jordan@temple.edu)  or tweet me (@Dreeeeeeea).

Talk to you tomorrow lovelies!
