Start The New Year Right With These New Shows & Movies Dropping In January

The new year is right around the corner, so you know what that means… a brand new set of television shows and movie releases. Of course, everyone knows that the New Year is all about setting new goals, and one of mine happens to be to find the hottest TV shows and movies. I love exploring varying forms of entertainment, and you can bet that I’m going to be purchasing a bunch of new streaming subscriptions this new year. Seriously, RIP to my bank account, but these purchases are going to be well worth it with the amount of time I dedicate to watching TV and movies.

There’s a few TV shows and movies that are set to release during January 2023 that quickly have caught my attention, and I’m sure that they’ve probably already caught your eye too. Whether you’re into crime shows, up-and-coming action movies, or classic reality TV series, I can promise you that there’s something new coming out during the month of January that will fit your own personal entertainment taste. Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the hottest new TV shows and movies that will be making their debut in January 2023.

Netflix

Ginny & Georgia Season 2 (Jan. 5)

Ginny & Georgia is an eerie show full of deceit, lies, and murder — all between a mother-daughter duo. After Season 1’s shell-shocking cliffhanger, Season 2 is set to pick up only a few weeks later in the storyline. Ginny has always felt that she was more mature than her adult mother, Georgia. Once she learned that her mom actually killed her ex-husband, Ginny immediately headed out on the run, which is where we can expect Season 2 to kick off. I can’t wait to see where this story is heading…

That ‘90s Show Season 1 (Jan. 19)

We’ve all heard of That ‘70s Show, and its sequel That ‘90s Show is officially debuting in Jan. 2023! Instead of being set in the ‘70s, the new series will (obviously) be set in the ‘90s, showcasing some of our favorite old characters as they forge new friendships. While Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp are set to star in their roles as Red and Kitty, many other familiar faces (including Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis) are set to make guest appearances throughout the duration of the series.

Lockwood & Co Season 1 (Jan. 27)

Are you ready to get your thrill on? Well, then you have to be tuning into Lockwood & Co. This new Netflix series will follow the story of a psychic girl as she teams up with two other boys at a ghost-hunting agency. Together, they’ll work together to combat ghosts and spirits in London. The show’s leading woman, Ruby Stokes, has also been a part of some other noteworthy projects. You know Bridgerton? Yep, Stokes was a former cast member of the show, but we’ll be able to see her as the woman in charge during Lockwood & Co

Paramount+

Are You The One? Season 9 (Jan. 18)

You know it wouldn’t be a roundup of new entertainment without the addition of a reality TV dating series, right? Are You The One? is back for its ninth season of Paramount+ starting Jan. 18. The show follows a group of single men and women as they navigate dating each other. The twist, though, is that a matchmaking algorithm has already matched couples up prior to the season kicking off, and if contestants are able to pair each other up successfully, they win a prize of up to $1 million.

ABC

The Bachelor Season 27 (Jan. 23)

You knew it was coming: The Bachelor is back on Jan. 23. Zach Shallcross was named the 27th Bachelor after participating in Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey’s season of The Bachelorette — with mixed reactions, I might add. We’ll be able to tune in and watch to see Shallcross date a pool of over 30 women throughout the duration of the season. Confession… Shallcross kind of looks exactly like one of my ex-situationships, so it’s going to be a rough season for me to tune in to, but I’m here for it.

MTV

Rupaul’s Drag Race Season 15 (Jan. 6)

As a megafan of Rupaul’s Drag Race, I’m more than excited to see the show’s 15th season premiere, come the new year. Each season, a group of drag queens come together to battle it out for the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar. I honestly can’t wait to watch this new batch of queens get their moment on a platform as big as RPDR. Season 15 also marks the show’s debut on MTV, so I’m excited to see if any changes to the format or overall vibe of the production shifts.

AMC

M3GAN (Jan. 6)

Everyone has been awaiting the release of this horror movie that swiftly went viral online: It’s M3GAN. Movies about scary dolls always seem to draw in an audience, and this new film is exactly that. M3GAN is a doll that is created to be a young child’s best friend, pledging to protect her no matter what. After gaining some attention online for the main doll’s dance moves that literally resemble that of Maddie Ziegler, I’m looking forward to seeing if the movie lives up to its hype.
