It’s OKAY to exercise while sick

Hi Collegiettes™!

It just so happens, that the day I return from spring break and have a busy week ahead of me I get sick! I have
a head cold, which I think is the worst thing ever. It not only affects me physically, but also mentally.

The SELF Jumpstart Diet has been the motivation that I need to take back my life and become a healthier and stronger person. Therefore, I wasn’t going to let a measly cold hold me back. By graduation I want to be a confident woman walking across the stage.

But, is it okay to exercise while being sick?

To answer this question, I entered “working out while sick” into Google. And to my surprise, it is okay to exercise while sick, as long as you don’t work out too hard. According to WebMD, “because exercise may help to boost immune function, it’s usually safe to exercise with a cold. Still…it’s important to listen to your body.”

After a spinning class this morning, my body felt great! I didn’t feel like my cold was holding me back and knowing that I’m not making my cold any worse by exercising I will continue to hit the gym daily.

She is involved in many activities on campus including a job with University Unions, where she writes articles for the website and contributes to the blog. Elizabeth hopes to get a job after graduation that will involve lots of writing, whether that be at a publication or doing PR. But for now she is enjoying the little time she has left at JMU.
