Does Instafest Work With Apple Music, Or Is This A Spotify-Only Club?

What would your dream Coachella weekend look like? How about Lollapalooza? Well, you can spare yourself the heartache and the money-ache with Instafest. Now trending on social media, Instafest is a new third-party app that shows Spotify users their most-played artists in a three-music festival lineup. Basically, Instafest takes your listening habits to the next level.

The trend of posting your Instafest lineup has consumed both Twitter and Instagram. The app is designed for young people, and yet, it was also created by a young person. Los Angeles app developer, Anshay Saboo, a sophomore at the University of Southern California, created Instafest, using his computer science expertise to create a graphic generator tailored to each Spotify user’s top hits. Saboo also created The Grades App, an app downloaded over 200,000 times which helps high school students track their grades and assignments.

The Instafest app is designed to be accessible — in fact, all you need is a Spotify account. To see your lineup, you can go to the Instafest website where you’ll select a template, sign into your Spotify account when prompted, and wait for your personalized festival lineup. You can shift their lineup based on the last four weeks, last six months, or of all-time. Not only will the app create your specially-curated lineup, but it also generates a user for you based on your current Spotify username. Oh, and better yet, you can do all this on a smartphone or a computer — and of course, make sure to share it with your friends, family, and followers.

Unfortunately, however, Instafest is not compatible with Apple Music, as it has partnered exclusively with Spotify. The app isn’t compatible with other streaming services, either. But don’t fret! If you’re an Apple Music user and still want to hop on the trend, you can try Apple Music’s Replay 22, which is similar to Spotify Wrapped. Replay 22 also shows your top hits throughout the year, allowing you to create a playlist of your most-played songs to share with others. Like Spotify Wrapped, you can view your stats for the year, curated based on your listening habits.

Instafest is a dream festival lineup, and the best part is that it’s customized. And it’s arguable that Saboo chose the right platform to enter the arena — with a whopping 433 million users, Spotify is the world’s leading music streaming service. Comparably, as of 2021, Apple Music has 78 million users, totaling 20 million more songs than Spotify. The question remains: What other streaming services will become part of the trend? Or is this a Spotify users-only club?
