Healthy can be hard

Hey collegiettes™!

Due to some setbacks today, I definitely had to go out of my way to be healthy today.

First of all, I started the day off very ambitiously by waking up before my class and going to the library…and when I say early I mean that I was at the library at 8:30am when I don’t have class until 11am. But don’t worry; I made sure to have a hearty bowl of oatmeal to give my brain some fuel before I started studying away.

Directly after I finished my internship this afternoon I sped back to my room to get a quick run in with a friend. Since we only had about a half an hour to run, I figured it would be a piece of cake as my runs lately have been an average of 5 miles a day for a few weeks now. But boy was I wrong! It was one of the worst runs I have had in a very long time; one of those runs where you feel like bricks and every stride your legs are screaming for you to stop. Though I finished the run, it frustrating and disappointing not to do as well as I thought I could have.

I realized later that my poor performance during my run was probably due to the combination of not sleeping very much last night and being dehydrated…I was so busy I forgot to drink water! I definitely won’t do that again! To make up for my disappointing run, I decided to go for a walk with a friend to burn some extra calories. Walking with a friend is a great way to get exercise and catch up at the same time! As a busy collegiette™ I am always a proponent of multitasking.

I had a dinner date with a friend tonight, but I really did not want to go to the pit. Lately any interaction I have had with our lovely dining hall here at Wake has not ended the way I would have liked. So, in another attempt to make my day healthy I decided to grab Whole Foods for dinner. But I of course did not want to back out of my dinner plans, so I just brought Whole Foods into the pit! Yes that sounds bizarre, but I need to use up my extra meals anyways so why not swipe my card to chat with a friend, but just not eat the food!
