Forgetting failure

Hey Collegiettes™!

Thanks to SELF’s great tip yesterday I have a much more positive attitude about things than I did after my carb overload last night. My new attitude…think like a guy! Guys rarely get upset and frustrated about a slip up. Those of us of the female gender, however, tend to beat ourselves up over our mistakes, no matter how little or insignificant.

I stumbled across this quote the other day and I think it is perfect for this post:

“If you try anything, if you try to lose weight, or to improve yourself, or to love, or to make the world a better place, you have already achieved something wonderful, before you even begin. Forget failure. If things don’t work out the way you want, hold your head up high and be proud. And try again. And again. And again!” Sarah Dessen

Sorry if it is too sappy for your liking, but I think it is good to hear every once in a while that we are making progress. Recently, things like spring break have been a little discouraging and I have been feeling that nothing I am doing is making a difference. But even after last night’s unnecessary slice of pizza, I realized something. Before I started the SELF Jump Start Diet, when I was stressed or discouraged my slip ups were nowhere near small and I beat myself up about it for a long time afterwards. But now, though you all know firsthand that I am by no means a perfect dieter, I acknowledge when I stray a little bit and then I just move on. No more wallowing and no more excuses for me!

Happy St. Patty’s Day!
