We Love “Please Like Me”

Move over Girls, there’s another hilariously awkward TV show in town. Pivot TV’s newest series, Please Like Me, has been called the gay man’s response to Girls, and for good reason. The Australian comedy follows a young man, Josh, on a super windy path of sexual discovery. Like Girls, the show depicts uncomfortable and perfectly human situations in a humorous yet endearing way.

Even if you’re not a fan of Girls, you should definitely give Please Like Me a try because the main character is adorable in his awkwardness (and way more likeable than Hannah). In the first episode Josh, played by GQ’s Comedian of the Year, Josh Thomas, gets dumped by his girlfriend, realizes he might be gay, and moves back in with his mother after she attempts to commit suicide. That’s right, all in the first episode. If you want to squirm in your seat while busting a gut, Please Like Me is the perfect show for you.

Oh, and did I mention the georgous Wade Briggs is in this show? His shirt, on the other hand, only makes minor appearances ;)

Please Like Me officially premieres August 1 on Pivot TV; however, if you don’t get Pivot TV as part of your cable package or if you simply can’t wait that long, you can watch the first episode here. Just beware: you will get hooked. The show has thirty minutes to suck you in, and it does it in less than ten. If you’re looking for your next TV addiction, you’ll find it in Please Like Me.
