The ‘Stranger Things’ Cast Got to Visit the Upside Down IRL & Their Reactions Were Priceless

If your job was to interact with scary things every day, nothing would really scare you anymore, right? Wrong.

Stranger Things stars Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Priah Ferguson, and Sadie Sink visited the new Stranger Things-themed attractions at Universal Studios’ “Halloween Horror Nights” annual event. The four got a chance to explore a maze modeled after the show’s paranormal alternate universe, the Upside Down.

A video from Universal Studios shows the cast greeting fans outside the attraction before anxiously awaiting the maze, which will be featured in both Universal Studios parks in Hollywood and Orlando on select nights through November 3. The cast was creeped out by the familiar, including the same flickering light motif from the Netflix hit, the interior of Will Byers’ house, and the sight of a Demogorgon monster.

“The first Demogorgon, I’m not gonna lie, I was not planning this,” Caleb McLaughlin, who plays Lucas, recounted his entrance into the maze. “I wasn’t trying to be the center of attention. That scared me!”

Even though the Stranger Things kids are surrounded by these creepy happenings in Hawkins, Indiana all the time, that doesn’t stop them from freaking out when they see something familiar, including versions of themselves. In the video, Gaten Matarazzo becomes uneasy when he sees a rendering of his character, Dustin. “No!” he yells. “That’s not me!”

The Upside Down maze debuts at Universal Studios just in time to satisfy the Stranger Things cravings you’ve begun to develop around this time of the year. Netflix has delayed the release of Stranger Things season 3 to summer 2019, so this spooky yet endearing video should tide us over in the meantime.
