Ryan Lochte’s Mom Says He Only Has One Night Stands

For all you ladies dreaming of making Olympic hottie Ryan Lochte your future boyfriend (we don’t blame you; have you seen his abs?), you’ll have to resign yourself to a lifetime of wishful thinking, since Lochte is not a one-woman man. Apparently he’s more of the hit-em’-and-quit-em’ type, said…his mom??

“He goes out on one-night stands,” Ike Lochte, Lochte’s mother, said in a TODAY.com interview. “He’s not able to give fully to a relationship because he’s always on the go.”

Say what?!

Well, obviously he’s busy (being in the Olympics will sort of do that to you), so it makes sense that he doesn’t have time to devote to a girlfriend. But why is his mom talking to reporters about his sexual escapades? Do they have a really close mother/son relationship, or has his mother just been caught up in an unfortunate “mom slang” misunderstanding, as one Yahoo! Sports blogger suggests?

“In this case, rather than speaking carnally, Mrs. Lochte could be saying Lochte goes out on a lot of one-night dates and doesn’t have time to pursue a relationship,” wrote the blogger. “This may be the sort of quote that’s lost in translation, like when my mom used to ask me on a Friday night whether I was going to ‘hook up with my friends.’”

Either way, this is just awkward.

If you still have hope of becoming this gold-medal-winning Olympian’s one and only, know that Lochte told Women’s Health that he thinks women look hottest in “one of (his) long-sleeve button-down shirts and that’s all.” Um, that sartorial choice is a little hard to come by. So what else? “The second sexiest thing: white jeans,” he said. Alright, that’s easier. Oh yeah, and he sleeps naked, in case you were wondering.

Even though Lochte may not be boyfriend material, don’t despair, collegiettes: there are plenty of other fish in the sea (ha…swimming puns). Like Ellis Coleman. Or John Orozco. Or Chris Paul. Did anyone else just get a sudden desire to turn on NBC?

What do you think, collegiettes? Did Lochte’s mom go a little too far, or was it all just a misunderstanding? Or were her comments totally normal? Let us know in the comments below!
