It’s no secret that the relationship between Robin Thicke and his now estranged wife, Paula Patton, has been rocky for several months now. Between Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” music video which was a whole lot of naked women and essentially nothing else, as well as his role in Miley Cyrus’ unforgettable VMA performance (we’ll still never understand what was up with that Beetlejuice-esque suit), any woman would probably voice her concerns.
Most likely due to private issues and alleged infidelity, Thicke’s longtime sweetheart finally said she’d had enough. But with the release of Thicke’s newest album titled “Paula,” it looks like he won’t be giving up anytime soon. Sounds romantic, right? Maybe… but that’s certainly not the vibe we got from his newest music video for “Get Her Back” which is downright creepy. See for yourselves!
We’re not totally sure why he has a bloody nose or what made him think featuring another woman in his video would be the best idea to get his wife back, but this video is extremely desperate and makes us a little uncomfortable.
With lines like, “I’ll wait for forever for you to love me again,” alongside an all too believable texting conversation between an estranged couple, Thicke comes off less like the regretful husband and more like the psycho ex. Maybe the most romantic gesture isn’t to put your desperation and regret out there for the whole world to see (and in doing so most likely embarrass your wife even further).
And to add to the creepiness the woman featured in the video might as well be Patton’s twin, which is not exactly the most reassuring move to win back your wife. The cherry on top is the final text which says, “This is only the beginning,” leaving us thoroughly creeped out and wishing it had never started in the first place.
For a suave and sensual man, Thicke really failed to persuade at least his audience in believing this self-made player deserves a second chance. Who knows what Patton thinks of this gesture to win her back, but all we know is that we’d probably block his number ASAP. We’ve had enough of this creepy and desperate Robin Thicke for a lifetime. However, there’s sure to be more to come with the rest of the album’s release. For as much talk as there was over his controversial “Blurred Lines” music video, we can definitely expect “Get Her Back” to start a controversy of its own and no doubt if the rest of “Paula” reflects this song and music video, it’s just going to get worse.
Do less, Robin Thicke. Do much less.
