On Sunday’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim Kardashain opened up for the first time about the highs and lows of using a surrogate to have her third child, a baby girl due sometime in 2018.
As E! News reports, in the episode, the 37-year-old star broke the happy news to the rest of the Kardashian clan about being pregnant with a third child — and revealed both the good and bad sides to her experience using a surrogate following two extremely difficult pregnancies with her children North and Saint.
“The fact that this is just what we can do these days, I’m like really thankful,” Kim says to Khloe on the show. “Like I’m seriously so grateful for her and that someone is just so like selfless and kind to do this.”
But according to Kim, having a surrogate comes with some unique challenges too.
“It is frustrating to not be able to do it on your own,” she says on the show. “Of course I want to know every last detail that’s going on with my baby and that’s super frustrating, but I really trust my surrogate and I don’t want to be that person that’s trying to control her every move. It’s going to be a long hard process but I’m going to take it one day at a time and hopefully it just gets easier.”
Kim also revealed that she lost an embryo before becoming pregnant with Saint, understandably only adding to her fears throughout her third pregnancy.
“It’s so frustrating. It’s really nerve-wracking because you know it’s only a 60 percent chance it’ll take,” she tells Khloé in the episode. “One didn’t work for me. I tried it and I lost one of them.”
As we know, the story has a happy ending: Kim is pregnant with her third child, a baby girl due sometime in 2018!
