Idris Elba Is Closer To Being The Next James Bond & It’s What The World Needs

Rumors have begun swirling (again!) about the next actor who could take on the iconic role of James Bond, which is currently played by actor Daniel Craig. Among those being echoed is heartthrob Idris Elba.

Idris Elba’s name has been thrown around for years now, dating all the way back to 2014, during the whole Sony email hacking debacle where it was discovered that studio co-chair at the time, Amy Pascal, had reportedly written these words to a colleague: “Idris should be the next Bond.”

According to Esquire, Bond film producers are now starting to seriously consider Elba for the role. A conversation between director Antoine Fuqua and producer Barbara Broccoli reportedly revealed that Broccoli noted it’s time for a non-white actor to take the lead on this iconic role, with Fuqua stating it “will happen eventually,” with Idris Elba as frontrunner for the part.

Nothing has been confirmed, but it really is about time the powers behind James Bond consider a person of color, and the people of Twitter seem to agree.

Who knows what’s going to happen, but lets only hope that they give us the 007 blessing we all deserve: Idris Elba.
