Barb from ‘Stranger Things’ is Back to Fight Slut-Shamers

Barb may have died on Stranger Things, but her career is very much still alive. Shannon Purser, who played the dearly departed icon on Netflix’s hit series, is back—this time as Ethel Muggs on The CW’s new show Riverdale.

Riverdale‘s central mystery is about a high school student named Jason Blossom who turns up dead. The town is trying to put together the pieces while keeping their own secrets.

Purser debuted as Ethel in this week’s episode, teaming up with main characters Betty and Veronica to take down a slut-shaming football player. Cosmopolitan describes Ethel as “the Gloria Steinem of Riverdale High.” Say no more.

It still doesn’t seem like Barb will be back on Stranger Things, but at least we have Riverdale to look forward to.

Rachel graduated from the Honors College at James Madison University in May 2017 and is pursuing a career in the media/PR industry.
