Christina Aguilera Explains What It Was Like Having Someone She Dated Turn Out To Be Gay

Christina Aguilera appeared on the season premiere of Untucked, the aftershow of RuPaul’s Drag Race, and was unflinchingly honest about one of her past romances.

When she sat down with the 10 queens, she started talking about her 2002 song, “Infatuation,” from her album Stripped. The song is about the forbidden love and the building obsession over a Latin lover, whom Aguilera actually dated. She didn’t say the man’s name, but she did reveal that he was actually gay.

Aguilera went on to describe what it was like for her to find out, saying, “It was heartbreaking because I found out he played for your team, not mine.”

“He’s gonna be so mad when he sees this,” Vanessa Vanjie Mateo, one of the competing queens commented. To which Aguilera responded, “I hope so, girl.”

The “Beautiful” singer didn’t stop there, discussing another romance that inspired her song “Fighter,” stating with a laugh that he “deserved it,” when questioned by Monique Heart about its meaning.

Aguilera’s appearance on the show was both fun and insightful, as she ended it with some sage advice for the queens, “But I think as long as you keep remembering who you are as a person—and keep remembering the good and the good around you—then nothing can stop you.”
