Chris Pratt & Tom Holland Team Up as Brother Elves in Pixar’s ‘Onward’

In Avengers: Infinity War, Star Lord (played by Chris Pratt) and Spider Man (played by Tom Holland) only got to meet for a brief moment before they suddenly dissipated into nothingness, along with half of the entire universe (thanks a lot, Thanos). But lucky for us, it looks like Pratt and Holland will be teaming up again in Disney Pixar’s new original movie, Onward.

The new film, which had originally been referred to as an untitled suburban fantasy, follows two teenage elf brothers (Pratt and Holland) who embark on a quest to see if there is still magic in the world, Variety reports.

“At Pixar we try to create stories that come from some kind of personal truth,” Dan Scanlon, director of Onward, said in a statement. “This film was inspired by my own relationship with my brother.”

Scanlon, who directed 2013’s Monsters University for Pixar, said he was only one and his brother was three-years-old when their father passed away.

Octavia Spencer and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are also joining Pratt and Holland in the cast of Onward, according to E! News.

Producer Kori Rae, who also worked on Monsters University with Scanlon, said “Chris brings equal parts huge heart and fantastic humor to his character,” and that Spencer “can do it all. We’re especially excited about the depth as well as humor that she brings to her character.”

According to Scanlon, Holland “has an infectious charm and sincerity that makes you root for him in every character he plays,” and “there is no one funnier than Julia.”

“But she also brings a warmth and loving side to her character,” Scanlon said of Louis-Dreyfus.

Holland, who has been known to accidentally spill secrets about upcoming movies, shared the news of the new Pixar movie on his Instagram account.

“It is announcement time! I am so excited. I’ve been trying to keep this a secret for so long—and I just can’t do it anymore. I am lucky enough to be making a Pixar movie...I'm so excited I finally get to share this with you,” Holland exclaimed. “Let's make a great movie!”
