Benefits the Jumpstart Diet offers a Soon-to-be-Graduate

I’m obsessed with Twitter. I love the fact that I can get information in 140 characters or less and I don’t have to go through multiple websites; it is all in one place. Some of the people I follow are @ComeRecommended, @CareerRealism, @washingtonpost, and of course @HerCampus and @SELFmagazine. The first two mentioned offer a lot of advice to those in the market for a job. I find the information they tweet especially relevant for seniors, like myself, who are in the search for jobs for after graduation.

So why am I talking about Twitter? A couple of days ago @ComeRecommended and @CareeRealism tweeted about two articles, “Eight Post-Grad Pitfalls You Must Avoid” and “5 Ways to Banish Job Search Stress.”  Both articles mentioned the importance of cooking healthy meals and exercising.

The last pitfall of  “Eight Post-Grad Pitfalls You Must Avoid,” is “The Alumnus 15.”  I don’t even want to think of putting on weight after graduation, especially after all the hard work I have been putting in to losing weight this past month. Yes, I will have more money (hopefully) and won’t be able to rely on dining halls, so I might be tempted to eat out, because it is easier than cooking. However, one thing that the Jump Start Diet from SELF Magazine has taught me that you can cook quick and easy meals at home. Make it a goal for yourself to not gain “the alumnus 15,” I know that I am!

Just like every other senior, I am on the search for a job for after graduation.  It is a very stressful and frustrating process. The article, “5 Ways to Banish Job Search Stress” offers some great advice, but the one that relates most to my goal of Losing the Freshman 15 is “Exercise!” According to the article, “even 10-15 minutes of exercise can boost your endorphins and improve your attitude.” I know for myself, on days I don’t exercise I feel sluggish and not as focused as I am on days I do exercise.

The Jump Start Diet is not only helping me get and stay healthy but also benefiting me in relieving the stress of job searching and preparing me for post-grad life. Check out both articles for the other post-grad pitfalls to avoid and ways to banish job search stress.
