Alternate Ending Revealed for Series Finale of MTV’s ‘The Hills’

We have a lot to thank The Hills for: the birth of Speidi (or the unholy union that was Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag), the iconic image of Lauren Conrad’s mascara tears, and the hilarious video clip of Whitney Port falling down the stairs while modeling Hilary Swank’s Oscar gown. It’s been three years (and several Heidi Montag plastic surgeries) since we bid adieu to the spoiled Hollywood Hill dwellers and, just as we were beginning to move on with our lives, MTV has revealed what we’ve all been dreaming: the saga is not quite over.

Playing off the rumors that the entire show was scripted—blasphemy! Why would anyone purposely write dialog that dull and uninspiring?—the MTV reality hit ended its last season with Kristin Cavallari (who had taken over Lauren’s role as the star by then) and her off-and-on again BF Brody Jenner driving off into their future together, away from the cameras, before revealing in a majorly meta twist that the whole scene was being shot with cameras on a backlot. Well played, MTV, but wholly unsatisfying to us loyal viewers.

However, MTV will now be revealing the long-kept secret alternate ending to the series. The new resolution will air on Friday, August 9 at 11:30 as part of “RetroMTV Brunch.” Staring July 8, encore presentations of The Hills and its predecessor Laguna Beach will air as well, with cast members from MTV’s Girl Code and Awkward providing commentary during the marathons.

Mark your calendars, collegiettes. This is a throwback you can’t miss.
