11 Times ‘New Girl’s’ Nick Miller Truly Understood You

If you’ve seen New Girl (and if you’re like me, you’ve seen it 25+ times), you know that Nick Miller is a painfully relatable character. I found him especially relatable when thinking about how overwhelmed I’ve been recently. How are you supposed to meet project deadlines at work, maintain relationships, be healthy, sleep, keep your room clean, and make time to cook meals? In recent times especially I’m no stranger to feeling overwhelmed, and neither is Mr. Miller.

Everyone knows that mood when you’re so stressed and overwhelmed with all your responsibilities that you just want to give up on everything and order in Chinese food, right? Well here are 11 other times Nick totally got you, too.

When someone asks how you are and you’re about two seconds away from a mental breakdown due to stress
When you realize you haven’t done laundry in an extremely long time
When all of your friends are finding significant others and you’re just over here like…
When your mom or dad calls to check in on how you’re doing health wise
When the only things getting you through the day are the three orders of sushi you’re going to be ordering for dinner later
When all you want to do is crawl into bed and watch Netflix but you have 1,000 other responsibilities
When your roommate eats your leftovers – again
When you try on your favorite going out top just to feel something, even though crowded bars are a thing of the past and you can’t go anywhere at the moment
When all you need is a drink at the end of a long week
When you realize even though you love all of your friends and family, sometimes you just really need some alone time
When you realize you might actually be doing okay for yourself, considering the circumstances

Cheers to you, Nick Miller! Thanks for being so relatable, always a little dysfunctional, willing to make fun of yourself, and simultaneously setting the bar so high and also so low. Nick is the ideal character showcasing dysfunctional adulthood, and we can all relate to that right now.
