While it may seem like the Missoni for Target epidemic was just yesterday, the popular retail store has a new designer taking  customers and fashionistas alike by storm. Sunday night may have been a huge night for our athletic boy toys and football-loving BFFs, but it was also a big deal for us fashionistas: Jason Wu for Target went on sale February 5th at midnight. This collection wasn’t as scandalous as Missoni; however, it definitely came with its own set of stories. Are you currently en route to your nearest Target? Hate to break it to you, fashionistas, but a lot of Jason Wu for Target pieces are already out of stock. Again? I totally feel your pain.  Ready for some of the craziest Jason Wu for Target stories?

Couples Who Shop Together, Stay Together?

While my dream guy (a.k.a Ryan Gosling… or Joseph Gordon Levitt, it’s too hard to pick just one) would definitely wake up early to shop for Wu with me, he wouldn’t buy everything from the store with the intent to resell.  A couple actually bought almost everything Wu that a Target in midtown Miami carried. Don’t believe me? Fashionista.com posted footage of this sweep.

Obviously, the other eager fashionistas were less-than-pleased with the couple’s rampage. Ginger Harris, a blogger and witness, recounts the event in her blog:

“ A woman, who had been waiting in line as long as the rest of us, said she wasn’t going to tolerate that and took something out of the vultures’ carts. The male vulture shoved her. Her husband threatened him. The police got involved. And then the insults started to fly.” –Ginger Harris, Electric Blogarella

Okay, that’s more intense than last night’s episode of Pretty Little Liars. The dynamic duo has been dubbed “the Target Vultures” by the media. Fitting, right? What could be more romantic than cleaning out a whole store’s collection of Jason Wu for Target and then selling it online? I can think of a few things…

How Bad is the Damage?

Okay, so this Miami store is just one instance, right? Wrong! While most Target stores lacked newsworthy “Vulture” drama, there isn’t that much left in stores! According to Target’s spokesperson, Joshua Thomas  , many of Target’s 1,200 stores that carried the brand are “sold out or running low.”  I think I know what you’ll be doing after your last lecture!

Start Your Bidding

It hasn’t even been two days and, according to Fashionista.com, over 11,000 Jason Wu for Target pieces are on eBay. Casual, right?  To make matters even worse,  these resellers are bumping up the prices big time! For example, one reseller posted the Flap Satchel starting at $280. Original price, you ask?  $49.99. Thankfully, others resellers are posting their finds with more reasonable price tags. Before you click “Buy it Now,” just remember that all of the pieces from this collection are originally less than $60. Oh the things we’ll do for Wu!

What’s Still Left?

So is there any hope for us Wu fanatics? Don’t let these horror stories fool you: some pieces are still available in stores and online. While most of the accessories are only available in stores, according to Target’s website, you can purchase a lot of the clothes with just a click of a button. The retro pleated shift dress , for example, is still available and waiting to be worn by a fabulous collegiette.  Also, buying that gorgeous sleeveless chiffon dress is just a click- or two- away.  Can we say chic class clothes or even outfits for a summer internship (if your internship has a fashion-forward dress code, obviously )? Fashionistas, there are more available pieces so check them out for yourself! Thanks to this post, I may or may not have treated myself to some Wu and I suggest everyone else does the same…while you still can!
