On October 11, I turned 21 years old. To celebrate on my actual birthday, I returned home to Asheville, NC to spend time with my family and a few of my friends from High School. You can read a little bit about my trip here.
The day before I left for Asheville, my wonderful boyfriend Alex surprised me with what has to be the best birthday 21st present of all time. I’m not exaggerating. Seriously, it was that good.
Alex got my present back in June and tormented me with it for 5 months! Our joke was that he had gotten me a puppy and was keeping it in his closet until my birthday. No offense to the dog lovers out there but what he got me was SO much better than a puppy!!!
The day before I left, I walked into my dorm room and Alex handed me a card. On the front it said “Here’s Your Puppy!” Knowing that he didn’t ACTUALLY get me a small canine, I tore open the card anxious to see what was inside. The card indicated that i had gotten a pair of the shoes I had been talking about since I visited the boutique in Paris in May.
I looked up, shocked. I got my very first pair of Christian Louboutin’s for my birthday! I knew that every fashionista’s closet was incomplete without a pair, but I didn’t think I’d be lucky enough to get a pair until I was at least 30 (or at least employed!!)
I turned around and there, sitting on my bookshelf was the most beautiful pair of shoes I’d ever laid eyes on. I was obsessing about Louboutin’s last spring and basically all summer, but was not trying to hint that I wanted a pair for my birthday! This gift took me totally by surprise!
I wore the shoes when we celebrated my 21st back in Boston. The evening was wonderful!
