How to Wear Slicked Back Hair When You’re Feeling Kind of Extra

Slicked back styles are not just for the red carpet. You can rock the look too if you’re feelin’ it! I’ve rounded up some of the most sure-to-inspire looks that will have you whipping out your gel like, yesterday.

The “This is What I Look Like Fresh Out of the Shower” Look

Kendall’s sleek look gives off a totally effortless vibe. Her hair looks slightly wet, but without giving us that crunchy-gel nightmare flashbacks.

Middle Part

This look can also be achieved with a middle part. Just slick the roots and a few more inches, leaving the rest of your hair soft.

Business in the Front, Party in the Back

This is super chic right? Press down the front pieces into a tight ponytail, and go ham styling the back.

High Pony

Do not be afraid of the sleek high ponytail. The look transforms an everyday pony into a super classy, event-ready style.

Bun it Up

If you’re feeling, like super extra daring, try the infamous sleeked-back bun.

Top Knot

This is another way to try the slick bun. When applying your gel, comb everything you have up towards the heavens and finish off with a ballerina bun on the tippy top of your head.

Sleek and Straight

If looks could kill I think we’d be dead in one glance. The fierceness is dangerous – from the perfectly sleeked head to the stick-straight pony, this style means business.

Deep Part

One way to kind of ease into the realm of sleek looks is to use just enough product to keep a deep side part in place.

Low Bun

Slap a big, voluminous bun to the nape of your neck to counter the flat, slicked back part of the style.

Slicked back hair is nothing to be afraid of. There are so many ways to tone it down or play it up, so don’t be scared to just go for it and see what’s right for you!
