Backstage at Rachel Comey, Stylists Celebrate Individuality

Desert. Post-apocalyptic. Warrior.

These were all words used to describe the beauty look at Rachel Comey. Since models were of all ages and backgrounds, the beauty team paid attention to their individuality when prepping them for the show, in perfect unison with the way Comey designs clothing.

Using PHYTO products from Beauty.com, lead hairstylist James Pecis created texture in models’ hair, which was then twisted into an updo of various knots and curls that exemplified the warrior look but that Pecis says is also perfect for a chic summer look or even a wedding.

Romy Soleimani designed the skincare and makeup looks for the show using Jurlique and bareMinerals products from Beauty.com. For skin, soothing Jurlique products were applied prior to makeup for balance, redness reduction, firming and correcting. There were three different makeup looks, including an inky “graphic and messy” black-lined eye, an eye tightly lined with peach on the top lid and black on the bottom, and a blue-shadowed eye with a dark black corner. Lips were lightly muted with a little foundation over lip balm.

Nonie Creme’s Colour Prevails were the manicure spotlight, featuring custom blends of two colors, a muted mocha and a green-grey, both with a slight shimmer. Like the rest of the beauty choices, the colors worn were individualized depending on the model.

The result was a canvas of a woman to be reckoned with after the fire.
