The first time I ever picked up a pencil to write was in a dinky classroom in second grade. My teacher asked my class to write about a dog, her request was greeted with a chorus of groans. We all started to write flimsy sentences about a dog, but I found myself wrapped up in possibilities of what this dog's story could be. That was when my passion for writing began.
