Dasani Johnson

Hey Y’all! My name is Dasani. I am a Sophomore in the Elementary Education Program at Howard University. I am from the west side of Chicago. I’ve been at Howard University for 2 years now and it has been such a great eye opening experience. It has made me realize the possibilities that are outside of the city limits of Chicago.
My inspiration and interest lye in the field of education because, it is simply a part of my blood and DNA. It is something I have envisioned for myself since I was a young child.I have learned having African American teachers in the classroom will have a massive impact on myself as the teacher but most importantly the students. Keeping in mind everything is taught and seen in the classroom first. It is crucial, we make learning fun, culturally relevant, meaningful, while leaving no child behind in a supportive student-led collaborative classroom. These students will be our future leaders someday so with a noble teacher at hand this will enhance a bright future ahead for all.

Traveling, socializing with friends, trying new foods, music, fashion, and coloring in a coloring book to relieve anxiety and stress are some of my personal interests.
