With the official release of “As it Was” Harry Styles has entered the next era of his career. His third album, “Harry’s House” is set to come out on May 20th. His last album “Fine Line” was released back in 2019, so his new music has been long awaited by his fans.

I have been a fan of Harry Styles since I was 11. He was always my favorite member of One Direction, and he has remained my favorite singer nine years later. I remember back when he was releasing his debut solo album, I wasn’t sure what to expect from him, and how his solo songs would differ from One Direction. I was pleasantly surprised with all his songs, especially Sign of the Times. That is still my favorite song he has ever released.

His next album, “Fine Line” had a very different vibe than his previous album. In interviews, Harry said that it was written on the coast of Malibu, which is evident in the lyrics, and general sound of the album. The album starts off with “Golden” which makes you just want to drive past the ocean at sunset with the windows down. Other songs such as “Treat People with Kindness”, and “Canyon Moon” continue with the happy, uplifting vibes of the album. Even with the title track, “Fine Line”, the repeated lyric of “we’ll be alright” provides a sense of optimism which matches the entire theme of the album. The cover art is also bright with pink and blue being the main colors, setting the tone for the album.

When Harry released the cover art for his new album, I knew it was going to be completely different than his last album. The cover shows him in an upside-down living room that looks straight out of an aesthetic interior design magazine. In his first song, he repeats the lyric “you know it’s not the same as it was”. He sings about the changes he has experienced, especially during COVID, and moving into the next phase of his life. In an interview with SiriusXM, Harry said that it is the first time he has felt that he has made music from a real place, which makes me even more excited for the next 12 songs he’s going to release. I can’t wait for this new era of Harry Styles to continue, especially with his Coachella performance coming up, as well as his next tour.
