For the past three years at WLU, I’ve gotten lucky enough to befriend so many different types of people who all allow me to be myself. For the last two of those three years, I’ve lived with five other girls in an off-campus house. These girls have shaped my perspective on university, myself and friendship as a whole. I can’t wait to have another year in the same house as them and many years together despite whatever distance may come between us. Here’s to you guys.

Thank you for being my best friends. I’m lucky enough to be in a housing situation where we all get along, like each other and fit well together. The seamlessness of our friendship is something I’ll always value. I can wholeheartedly say that if I needed something or someone, I know I would be welcomed with open arms by any of you and I’m so thankful for that.

Thank you for bringing out the best in me. These last three years have been full of ups and downs, big decisions, mental breakdowns and so much more. Nevertheless, you five have allowed me to change and adapt to my surroundings, my mental health and whichever situation I am facing. I feel so lucky to have such supportive people surrounding me who give me the space to become the person I am striving for and love me throughout the entire process.

Thank you for the laughs. I feel so sorry for people who don’t know us personally – they’re missing out on how funny we are. If I were living with people who failed to make me laugh until my core hurts, my university experience would be so boring. We never fail to put a smile on each other’s faces yet are able to leave one another alone if it’s clear they aren’t in the mood – I think that’s so important.

Thank you for the advice, the shoulders and the silence. Whether it be a rant session, a cry session or simply sitting in silence to think something through, I know I can rely on you guys to provide me with the space and environment I need for that. One of my favourite parts about our group is the reciprocity we have. No matter which one of the six of us needs another, we are unwavering in our support and love for each other. I hope that never fades.

Last, but certainly not least, thank you for the fun. We’ve made the absolute craziest memories I could imagine and so many nights that most of us can’t remember. Thank you for the tequila nights & McDonald’s orders, the pre-games & hangover movie days.

So, thank you for making me a better person, the best version of myself, teaching me things about friendship I never knew and for your unshakable companionship. I love you so much.

59 forever <3
