As someone who has struggled with their skincare since a young age, I have experimented with a lot of various products and tricks. I tend to stick to fragrance free and clean products, as my skin reacts to products with too much fragrance, but here are a few of my favorite and everyday products that I strongly recommend!

Dove Sensitive Skin Soap Bar

Finding a face wash throughout my middle school and high school days was always a struggle. Later in my high school career, I read online that washing your face with just a bar of soap had helped many people clear their skin up. I felt inclined to try it and was pleasantly surprised by the results. Because there are not a lot of ingredients in this bar, it has helped my skin a lot. The simplicity of these ingredients beat out the other extravagant face washes that tend to irritate or break out my skin. I used to use the Original Dove Soap Bar, however, there is some fragrance included in that bar, to which I have abandoned to find a no fragrance product.

Cerave Face Lotion

The biggest tip I have learned throughout my journey is that sometimes less is more. Less ingredients and fragrances avoid extra irritation and the CeraVe Lotions I strongly recommend to anyone with sensitive skin or anyone struggling with breakouts. If I feel like I need a little more hydration after I wash my face, so when I apply a second layer of this lotion, my skin is extremely hydrated and not irritated.

Vaseline/Aquaphor

I have come across the recent trend of “slugging”, where you basically put Vaseline or Aquifer on your face overnight and wake up with hydrated skin and clean pores. I tried it and fell in love with this trend. I have not seen too much progress with my breakouts from slugging, however, it has not at all irritated my breakouts and I wake up every morning extremely refreshed, hydrated, and supple. I prefer to use Vaseline because it is only petroleum jelly and has less active ingredients than Aquaphor.

Pixi Brightening Eye Patches

There is nothing better than coming back from a long, tiring day and  throwing on an eye mask. I have come to like the Pixi Brightening Eye Patches because they come with 30 pairs and are only $24, so you get more bang for your buck than if you get the individual patches at a CVS or Target. They are extremely soothing and help me feel a lot more refreshed after I use them. I keep them in my refrigerator, so when I put them on they are cold and help with under eye swelling.

BandAid Hydroseal

Now this is a weird tip, but whenever I get a bad breakout, I slap a Hydroseal BandAid on and leave it on overnight. These act almost like the pimple patches and zit stickers, however, I like the BandAid sizes and shapes that they have in the variety pack, as well as the fact that  you can find these at any drug store. After throwing one of these on a breakout, you will wake up the next day and visibly see how the BandAid healed your breakouts. I always have a pack of these at hand in case my skin gets bad.

Overall, I have learned that less is more when it comes to skincare. I used to want to pack my face with all these products and fragrances and ingredients and that often just irritated my skin further. Keeping a good routine with simple products and clean ingredients is the best way to keep your skin clean and feeling more confident!
