Everything I’m Going To Pack for My Trip to Florence This Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

As my first trip to Europe approaches, thoughts of what to wear and bring with me are more prevalent than ever. Italy is well-known for its fashion, and is even home to one of the fashion capitals of the world! While it is nearly impossible to be as fashionable as Blair Waldorf, it’s still fun to try. So, here is my catalog filled with everything that I plan to bring to Florence while I live there for a month.

In addition to my suitcase, I’ll bring my not-so-fashionable but extremely necessary backpack for all things school and possible hiking. Furthermore, I’ll also pack two handbags that can hold all of my items while I explore the city. While walking around and discovering Florence, I’ll need cute and comfortable shoes, such as Nike Air Forces. In addition to these, I’ll also bring sneakers, sandals and heels because I will likely need each of these types of shoes during my trip. The sneakers are essential for working out and hiking, the sandals are necessary for beach days and the heels are vital for nice events and nightlife. Evening-time looks are extremely important, because that is when everyone dresses up the most! So, on the nights that I go out, I’ll bring a variety of dresses—short, long, tight and flowy—as well as a few formal blouses.

For all of the hours leading up to nighttime, there are many different clothes to bring because there’s a large variety of activities to do during the day. For beach days, I’ll bring a couple of bikinis and one-piece bathing suits as well as one or two fun cover-ups. For days in the city, I’ll pack skirts, shorts and light, casual tops because the temperature gets up into the 80s in Florence. Therefore, most of my suitcase will be filled with summertime outfits. However, there are certain days when Florence may get chilly or drop in temperature at night, so a small portion of my suitcase will be filled with items for the cold weather. These items include a leather jacket, a couple of pairs of jeans (skinny jeans, boyfriend jeans and black jeans) and some fun long-sleeve tops.

The items that I always overlook when I am packing for a trip are accessories. Throughout the years, I have learned that even the smallest details can make an outfit, so I will make sure to bring plenty of accessories with me. My favorite accessories are different types of gold jewelry, so I’ll bring a couple of gold necklaces, earrings and bracelets. I’ll also bring a belt, a floppy hat to wear at the beach and a couple of pairs of sunglasses. One handheld accessory I will be bringing for fun is a disposable camera, so I can take as many pictures as possible and create a digital journal to document all of my fun travels. Both of these items are vital for recording and remembering all of the memories.

Lastly, it is important to remember not to pack my suitcase all the way. Since I will be buying a lot of souvenirs, there needs to be room in my suitcase to bring these souvenirs back home. Overall, those are all of the crucial items that I will make sure to bring with me to Florence. If you’re going on a trip anytime soon, I hope my list helps you plan your suitcase and outfits!
