Spending countless hours on social media can have a number of negative impacts on our lives. Distracting, time-wasting and purposeless are just a few well-known criticisms.

That said, there are many ways to use our phones and apps in ways that benefit us. Pinterest is my all-time favorite form of social media. Although categorizing Pinterest as social media may be a stretch, it does have some “social” elements, including following your friends and viewing what they’re saving. However, the reason I’ve been loving Pinterest has nothing to do with the social aspects. Trust me when I say that ditching Instagram and TikTok and saving pins on Pinterest when I need a phone break has been a worthwhile replacement. Not only is it very gratifying, it can also be an effective tool for manifestation.

Vision boards are essentially a visual representation of your aspirations, goals and dreams. Pinterest is the perfect medium to create these displays. When I began to view my Pinterest boards as vision boards, I used the application from a brand new perspective. I started a board entitled “2022” in January and used the photos to create a new computer wallpaper. Now I have multiple different vision boards for individual goals… it’s quite an addictive process!

The range of content on Pinterest is extensive. Whether you’re interested in backpacking through Europe, constructing perfect outfits or looking for film/photography inspiration, there are pins to match all of your ambitions.

So what should you include in your vision board? This is the fun part. Before you begin scrolling through a sea of latte art and beach sunsets, you may want to have some goals in mind. Think of your highest self – what are their habits? Favourite hobbies? What do they wear? What are their mantras? Their values? Where will they go? What will they achieve? Answering these questions through journaling, or simply in your head can help to form the intentions you want to attract.

How do vision boards work, you ask? Visualization is one of the best manifestation tactics you can use. The law of attraction essentially states that your thoughts create your reality. When you visualize what you want to attract, you emit a powerful frequency into the universe. Looking through pins that represent your goals can help you picture yourself achieving them. If you’re looking for inspiration to start, use the search function to view boards by title. I scrolled through a couple of people’s vision boards before starting my own.
