While many are using our spring break time to go somewhere tropical and warm, my six friends and I decided somehow to go to Montreal. None of us have ever been to Canada, but we are very excited to see what the city has to offer. We are leaving Thursday morning from New Hampshire, so it will only be a two-hour drive to Montreal. Our Airbnb opens up at 4 pm, so we are going to explore the city a bit when we arrive while we are waiting to drop our stuff off. Here is a list of things we have on the itinerary to do while in Montreal.
- Time out MARKET

This market is a very aesthetically pleasing indoor mall with a bunch of different restaurants inside, varying from tacos to poutine. They also have various bars and places to get drinks. It is apparently very popular with the local college crowd.
- La Banquise

La Banquise is supposedly one of the best poutine places in Montreal. I am very excited to bring my roommate here because the only poutine she has ever had has been the dining hall poutine, which is frankly very underwhelming. Like most restaurants in Montreal, the menu is entirely in French, but I think I would have stuck with the classic poutine lineup anyway.
- OLD MONTREAL

Our Airbnb is very close to Old Montreal, the section of the city with maintained old architecture and a quaint feel. The cobblestone sidewalks and roads look like a good spot to take pictures, and I think a walk around this portion of the city will be a good break from the super busy center of Montreal.
- Dieu du Ciel

I am very excited to visit this little brewery which has been raved about for its creative, homemade seltzer flavors, as well as other beverages. They also serve some enticing appetizers that I will definitely be indulging in such as homemade onion rings and personal pizzas.
- Indoor Ice Skating

I did not get as much ice skating in this winter as I would have hoped, so I am hoping we are able to rent some skates at the indoor ice skating rink of La Gauchetiére.
- Saint joseph’s Oratory

I am not what you might call a church-going person, but I am enticed by Saint Joseph’s Oratory’s ornate architecture. It has one of the largest domes in Canada, and it looks stunning.
- La grande Roue

This huge Ferris wheel is a sight to behold. It is located right on the harbor, and its bright lights reflect beautifully into the water below. I don’t know if it’s too cold to ride in the winter, but it can’t hurt to try!
I hope this itinerary gave you some inspiration if you ever take a trip to Montreal. If I were you I would probably visit in the summer and not the middle of winter though.
