“Euphoria” Season Two Recap

After an overwhelming eight episodes – my heart physically hurt after my favorite HBO show,
“Euphoria,” ended last night. Though there will be no more “‘Euphoria’ Sundays’ for another three
years now; I think the public will utilize the much needed rest period after everything Rue put us
through this season. For starters, more than last season, this specific one put into perspective the
heart-wrenching nature that is addiction; in which was more glamorized amid the first season.
Within eight episodes – we as viewers witnessed Rue’s life crumble to pieces as she inflicts
isolation and harm upon herself and others. This was very powerful because though most of us
watch any television to “get out of our heads and our busy lives,” “Euphoria” addressed many
difficult conversations & topics like addiction, divorce, abuse, and breakups. Being someone
who has a background of addiction within her family, this specific season was almost healing for
me witnessing the emotional turmoil of addiction come to life & everyone it affects within a
family environment. Next, I can’t even begin to ponder the finale of Cal and Fez/Ash : three
characters who we were able to dissect in terms of their traumas and life stories. Though all three
of these characters have interesting reputations through the show – comprehending their
backstories made me appreciate & love them even more. Furthermore, how can one forget the
feisty ex-friendship of Cassie and Maddie? This brawl, in my opinion, casted some lighthearted
drama in the mix of this particularly emotionally heavy season. Though I always viewed them as
the dynamic duo, this season really helped me to form a negative opinion about the character of
Cassie; who of which truthfully has fallen down the rabbit hole this season. One character who
really stood out to me this season was Lexi; who everyone overlooked until she got special
screen time airing her play. Lexi’s play in its entirety brought tears to my eyes as all of the character’s lives unfolded right before me; putting into perspective the true meaning behind
“Euphoria:” how every single person within the show had an addiction of some sort that brought
“euphoric” feelings to their lives in the midst of darkness. Ultimately, this season was a
tear-jerker from start to finish – but taught us some valuable lessons along the way. Alongside the
world, I am very excited to see how season three will turn out.
