During fall 2020 Netflix released a television series called Julie and The Phantoms based on the Brazillian tv show called Julie e os Fantasmas. The show is about a young adolescent girl named Julie Molina. She has recently gone through the tragedy of losing her mother, after losing her mother she also lost her passion for music until three ghosts from 1995 popped into her life. Once they have overcome their own difficulties and confusions they banded together to form Julie and the Phantoms. This show is not just a show for younger kids. It has reached viewers of all ages. The show is very diverse and connects with its viewers and has brought fans closer together through this show. One of the reasons why I am upset that this show did not get a second season is because of the message that it spreads to fans across the globe. For instance, as Julie says in the last episode of season one “Step into your greatness and Stand tall”. Julie said this before she was about to face one of her greatest fears alone. The show gives the message of even when you don’t think you can do something just stand tall and go forward with your head held high. That was my take on the show and for some during this pandemic and now where we are still in the pandemic some of us really needed that type of message.

The show is put together by Kenny Ortega who has also done numerous other projects such as Descendants and High School Musical. Madison Reyes Plays Julie Molina, Charlie Gillespie plays Luke, Owner Joyner plays Alex and Jeremy Shada plays Reggie. The show has had several successes 3 Daytime Emmy Awards as well as having the songs trending as well as the television show to trend on Netflix streaming platform. But then everything for the Fantoms and the cast and crew of the television show came to a stop when it was announced by Netflix that they will not be moving on to film a second season, This was announced on December 18th, 2021.

Since then the Fantoms have been working to prove to Netflix as well as other streaming services that this show is worthy to be picked up. One of the ways that Fantoms are working to try to bring the show back is by getting different theaters and concert venues around the world to promote the television series on the marques and billboards of concert/theater buildings. The reasoning behind this connects back to the show. Before Luke, Alex, and Reggie died because of hot dogs in 1995, they were set to perform at the Orpheum but did not end up getting their dream. So not only are they making a statement to that of the show but they are also doing promotions and encouraging people to continue to both watch the show and keep it trending on Netflix as well as listening to the songs as well.

The Instagram accounts that have been able to put this on also have started a petition to hopefully get the show picked up through the website called savejulieandthephantoms.com. The organizers of these brilliant ideas are credited by their Instagram handles @adultsandthephantoms @jatppositivity @orpheumphantom @emmaandtheunfinishedbusiness.
