Best Desserts To Make This Holiday Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

The holiday season is upon us and what’s a better way to celebrate than by making festive holiday desserts? Making desserts over the holidays is one of my favorite ways to celebrate the season because it’s fun, festive and a fantastic way to make others smile. Whether you are making desserts for you and your family or gifting them, they are a great way to spread the holiday spirit. Here are my staple desserts to make over the holidays that are likely to become yours as well.

sugar cookies

Sugar cookies are a holiday staple and making them gets you in the holiday spirit quite like nothing else. They are one of my favorite types of cookies, and I make them every year with my family to celebrate the holidays. From Christmas trees to snowmen there are so many different shaped sugar cookies you can make. They can be frosted, sprinkled or even dipped in chocolate. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!

Fudge

If you are a chocolate lover, this recipe will become one of your new favorite desserts to make over the holidays. It is super quick, easy and fun to make and turns out absolutely delicious. To make it more festive, you can even cut the fudge into festive shapes using mini cookie cutters and sprinkle the pieces with an assortment of holiday-themed sprinkles.

Graham Cracker Gingerbread House

This gingerbread house recipe uses graham crackers instead of gingerbread and is a fun take on the classic recipe. Because the houses are small and the ingredients are low cost, it’s the perfect dessert to make with guests if you are hosting a holiday party. It’s also great to make if you aren’t a big fan of gingerbread or just want to switch up your recipe this holiday season.

Peppermint bark

Topped with crushed candy canes, peppermint bark is a beautiful dessert that is perfect for gift giving. It is often a huge hit and is quick and easy to make. To make it more customized to your and others’ tastes, you can even make bark variations such as sprinkle bark, milk chocolate bark, snow bark, triple-layer bark and M&M bark.

Santa hat brownies

Why make regular brownies this holiday season when you can make Santa hat brownies? These sweet treats are so cute and offer the winning combination of strawberries and chocolate. They are a breeze to make, and if you’re like me, you won’t be able to stop making them these next few months!

Making desserts is one of my favorite things to do over the holidays since it’s fun, festive, and a wonderful way to spread the holiday spirit. Though it can be intimidating at first, I promise you won’t regret starting. If you try one of these recipes, I hope that you enjoy it! Here’s to hoping everyone has a fun, festive and tasty holiday season!
