Five Snacks to Keep Your Brain Working During Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

Being lost on what to eat during finals can be stressful. Making sure to feed your body will help you during this time frame.

skinny popcorn

SkinnyPop has recently become the number one snack that I bring with me to the library at any time. It’s quick, easy, and clean. Even better, they have small snack packs that are easy to ration and to throw in your bag.

Trail Mix

Snacknation shares the best snacks for studying, and nuts, dark chocolate, and dried fruit all make the list. This means buying pre-made trail mix or making your own is a great combination of some of the best snacks for studying!

Berries

According to Healthline, berries are high in flavonoid compounds called anthocyanins, which have been known to improve mental performance. Anthocyanins increase blood flow to the brain while protecting against inflammation. This compound also improves the neuro pathways that are involved in learning and memory. Pack up some berries in an air-tight container so you can eat something fresh throughout your day.

Dark chocolate

Dark chocolate has been proven to have many health benefits, and it also helps you study! It increases your blood flow and lowers your blood pressure. When you may not be getting your typical eating or exercising routine during finals season, use dark chocolate as a way to get the blood pumping instead. Plus, it’s yummy!

Pumpkin seeds

Pumpkin seeds have many antioxidants, which improve brain health, eyesight, and more. They’re an easy snack to make right before you leave for the day, and they’re a fantastic source of protein. Check out this easy recipe on how to roast pumpkin seeds!
