With the holidays upon us, finding the right gift for those in your life may feel like an impending chore you’ve only got so much time to complete. Unfortunately, in the U.S., there are many deterrents to services and goods. Prices for goods are much higher (have y’all seen the gas prices?!) and Black Friday and Cyber Monday were seemingly lackluster for many companies. Yep, there’s more: shipping has been slower, as well as the national shortage of labor. Taking all of this into consideration, as well as the global movement to be more sustainable and less wasteful, some may prefer to get fewer gifts that are of quality and necessity. All of this being said, here is a list of practical gifts for virtually every adult in your life.

Socks and slippers

They’re comfy, always needed and a universal gift anyone would appreciate. Bombas is a brand that donates a pair of socks for every pair of socks bought by a consumer. These socks have a cushion bed for your foot, arch support and long lasting cotton. Bonus: they have a blister tab on the heel for no more annoyance with pesky bandaids that never stay in place.

Sturdy phone case

Shiny, fashionable phone cases are all fun and games, until you drop your phone and said case does not do its job of protection. There are a number of phone case companies that offer stylish, yet durable, long-lasting cases. Pela has a wide variety of cases for different forms of technology that, yes, are pricey but are also an investment. They’ll last, protect your phone and are compostable.

Wallet/card holder:

Many people appreciate a simple, convenient wallet that holds what you need and is easy to carry. Metal wallets are perfect for people whose wallets face a lot of wear and tear. For those who want a traditional look, a leather wallet is timeless. Catalyst Connections is an online shop that offers goods made by women in Haiti and Iraq to help build opportunities for financial empowerment. Catalyst offers a classic, leather card holder that’s compact and sleek.

Being more intentional with our consumerism is helpful to our environment and our wallets. This guide has quality products that all the practical people in your life will love. I do want to note though, this holiday season, be kind to yourself no matter your shopping habits, and remember to treat yourself too.
