Over the past few weeks, I’ve gone to several concerts at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, the major outdoor venue for all concerts in Tampa. I sat on the lawn for some of these shows and had an absolute blast! Here are some of my tips to make the most out of sitting on the lawn for outdoor concerts, especially here in Tampa.
- Take Advantage of Deals

For several of the concerts that I saw on the lawn this month, I took advantage of the twenty-dollar deal that ran this summer. While this year’s deal was targeted towards welcoming concert-goers to return to live concerts due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it’s still done every year. The twenty-dollar ticket deal is usually just for the lawn but can even include some of the back rows of the venue, depending on who is performing. For instance, I saw the Jonas Brothers on the lawn because of this deal.
- Be Prepared

Review all the policies that the venue has before attending the show. Bringing your COVID vaccine card or a negative test within 72 hours of the event is a must, so don’t forget it! As for the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, the venue does not allow traditional bags and tall lawn chairs to be brought in.
However, clear bags can be brought in along with sealed water bottles and food. Additionally, lawn chairs can be rented for five dollars, if desired for the lawn. If you are a T-Mobile user, free chairs are available! Blankets are also allowed in the venue to sit on the lawn.
In addition to only bringing in allowed items, be prepared to sit in the sun! Florida weather can be brutal, so wear sunscreen, bug spray, and clothes that will be comfortable to dance outside all night. Thankfully, the sun goes down before the show begins, so it’s nice being outside.
- Arrive Early

Arriving early ensures that you can find a great spot on the lawn. The exact door times are listed on an email that’s sent to the connected Ticketmaster account a few days before the concert. Door times can also be found on social media. Getting there early allows you to see the openers and hopefully find some new great music.

As cheesy as it sounds: have fun! Concerts are such a great experience to listen to your favorite songs with others who love them just the same. Take tons of pictures and enjoy the night.
