Hi everyone, my name is Julia McNicol and I am a sophomore at Lasell University in Newton, Massachusetts. This is my third semester in HerCampus and I am a writer for our school’s chapter. I am a fashion media and marketing major with a journalism minor. I am planning to receive my bachelor’s degree in 2024 and go on to work in the fashion industry. Right now I could see myself working for a fashion magazine, whether that’s writing for one, styling, editing, marketing, etc. Even starting my own business as a wardrobe stylist has been something I’ve thought about working towards in the future.
This semester at Lasell I am taking six classes. On Monday and Wednesday, I have Fashion Content Development, History (World Wars), and Digital Tools for Fashion. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have my Journalism class and Retail Innovation Lab (also known as studio1851). This is where we do work for our student-run retail store on campus. When I am not in class, I am doing work for studio1851, writing articles for HerCampus, dancing, hanging out with friends, or taking day trips into Boston. This semester I am also going to begin working as a writing tutor in my school’s academic achievement center.
Before coming to Lasell I grew up in Hillsborough, New Jersey. I have a younger brother Zach, and a younger sister Emma who are twins. Living in New Jersey with my family and friends I have made memories that will last a lifetime. Now that I am starting my own life out here in Massachusetts I am so excited for where the future is going to take me. Whether that is living in Boston, NYC, or even back in Jersey, I know that my “passion for fashion” is going to take my far into a new and exciting life!
