‘…You’ve shown me I’ve reasons I should love myself..’ Just like this quote from the 2018 song ‘Love Yourself,’ every BTS song is known to contain a strong message behind it. I feel most of the songs by this mellifluous group can resonate with listeners who doubt themselves, are underconfident and lack appreciation. The members of BTS always remind us to appreciate and praise ourselves even on our bad days through their music.

BTS is known to have the biggest fandom in the whole world. Their music, their honesty and their love towards their fans (ARMYs) are one of a kind. ARMYs have always supported the band through thick and thin via their own means. They have been receptive to the messages BTS spreads throughout the world like when BTS donated $1 Million for Black Lives Matter, ARMYs throughout the world contributed another $1 Million for BLM within a 24-hour timeframe. ARMYs have also initiated several projects of their own like the ‘Purple Ribbon’ project which was introduced to make sure that the band could freely move through the crowds at airports and tours without getting mobbed or assaulted by anyone. The relationship between the artist and the fandom is so pure and genuine!

Starting from the recent release of the BTS BE Album, every song in it shows how much they miss ARMY and how they yearn to perform on stage in front of their fans. My personal favourite from the album is ‘Blue and Grey.’ It beautifully expresses the innate feelings of a person who is trapped in darkness, is woeful and tries to hold onto the hope that better times are yet to come. This song gives us hope that times will change and all our sorrows will gradually fade away. This album contains another beautiful song ‘Life Goes On’ which aptly describes the mixed feelings we sense during the pandemic. The lyrics go as:

“Like an echo in the forest

The day will come back around

As if nothing happened

Yeah life goes on

Like an arrow in the blue sky

Another day flying by

On my pillow, on my table

Yeah life goes on, like this again

Life Goes On

This song rekindles the hope that everything will be alright. If there’s a song that perfectly describes what self-love is, it has to be ‘Epiphany.’ Sung by JIN, every lyric of this song resonates with an individual who constantly doubts himself and thinks that he is not worthy of being loved by anyone. This beautiful melody is the kind of song that broadens their mindset and helps them realize that they are worthy of every bit of happiness in this world.

One of my personal favourites is ‘Zero O’Clock/ 00:00’ which portrays that when the clock strikes 00:00, everything becomes new, everything changes and hence, we all should too take it as an opportunity to become a better version of ourselves.

BTS has a whole collection of these feel-good-about-myself songs like ‘Best Of Me,’ ‘Telepathy,’ ‘Inner Child,’ ‘Mikrokosmos,’ ‘Love Maze,’ ‘So What,’ ‘Spring Day’ and ‘Not Today’. BTS’ discography is famous for its diversity in genres. They have covered almost every genre of music in their 8 years of career and still hold the power to amaze their audience with their future albums and collaboration.

I think most people would be familiar with the worldwide famous song ‘IDOL’ which says, ‘You can’t stop me loving myself‘. It’s one of those compositions which make you realize that you’re perfect the way you are. The song successfully portrays how society discourages you and how it pressurizes you to accept the boundaries that benefit them. This song conveys that no matter what people tell or what they think, you should never stop doing what makes you happy. You should keep moving forward and never stop loving yourself for who you are. Some songs that give a message similar to this song are ‘ON,’ ‘No More Dream’ and ‘Baepsae/ Silver Spoon.’

“Let’s make a door in your heart

Open the door and this place will await

It’s okay to believe, the Magic Shop will comfort you”

Magic Shop

I hope ending this article with these beautiful lyrics will make you want to give these songs a definite try! Do let us know what BTS song makes you feel good about yourself!

Just another person who wants to leave this ordinary, boring world and live within some fantasy written by an author, personally, I would choose the Grishaverse.
