Campus Cutie – Abigail Dykens

Class year: 2011

Hometown: Chatham, M.A.

Major: Film Studies

Minor: Photography

Relationship status: Attached

Interests:
My family, friendships, photography, film making/film, FASHION, thrift store/bargain shopping, a good read (my current favorite: Jane Austen and Oscar Wilde EVERYTHING), art, museums, summertime on Cape Cod, New York City, music, a cappella, coffee, the Pioneer Valley, and New Orleans.

What you look for in a significant other:
Honesty and trust. The two truly mold the foundation for a strong relationship. I also believe that personality is far more attractive than appearance. Oscar Wilde once said, “I knew that I had come face to face with some one whose mere personality was so fascinating that, if I allowed it to do so, it would absorb my whole nature, my whole soul, my very art itself.” Truer words were never spoken.

What makes you different and you:
I am a very welcoming, honest, and friendly person. Some say I come off as intimidating, but I’m the complete polar opposite! I’m also a strong believer in karma.

Where you can you be found on a Friday night:
Depending on my mood, if I have an a cappella jam or another prior commitment, I try to use Friday’s as work and movie days. I’m usually found in my room later on in the evening. I mean, come on, Saturdays are the best days…

Pet peeves:
When people say “anyways” and “those ones”! Especially when it comes from someone who you know is fairly intelligent. It’s a common mistake, but it’s so irritating!
Fashion wise: Canadian tuxedo’s, HUGE Glamour don’t! Jeans on jeans NEVER work. Just a tip…

Where do you see yourself in 10 years:
New York City! I’m planning on moving there after I graduate, so I definitely want to spend a significant amount of time in the Big Apple while I’m still able! I’ve been a small town girl for a very long time, and plan on straying from that once I leave Mount Holyoke.
